We supply beautiful Welsh slate hearths cut to any size, shape or thickness:
- For open solid fuel fires (open fires or stoves which burn with doors open) we recommend the slate to be in 2 pieces if over 600mm and minimum 40mm thick to prevent cracking.
- For closed stoves we recommend min 30mm thickness
- We only recommend 20mm thickness for small decorative hearths
- For gas, electric or decorative, the hearth can be supplied in any thickness.
There are two finishes available – fine rubbed (smooth matt) and riven (naturally split) There is a choice of 3 edge profiles – 3mm chamfer, pencil round, or sawn. We can supply curved fronted or any other shape you require – please send a drawing for specials.
PLEASE NOTE: We recommend your hearth is installed by a HETAS registered installer, you can find installers locally to you here: www.hetas.co.uk
We only recommend laying slate hearths on a solid concrete base with a sand/cement mortar mix (to HETAS guidelines)
